Eloise This picture of the Str. Eloise was taken at Fort Madison, Iowa, during the summer of 1900. The Eloise was built at Howard's Ship Yards, Jeffersonville, Ind. during the 1880's. Owned by Capt. Billy Rowe and operated between Pittsburgh, Pa. and Wheeling, W. Va.
In 1900 it was purchased by Capt. Tom Peel of Burlington, Iowa and operated between Burlington and Keokuk, Iowa as a daily packet. Later sold to Capt. W.A. Blair of Davenport, Iowa and the name was changed to Wenona. Later sold to southern parties and burned at Caruthersville, Mo.
