Poetic-13
I DREAM OF THEE
I dream of thee at noon,
When all the earth is gay,
Save I, who live a life forlorn,
And die thro' a long decay.
I dream of thee at noon,
When the summer's sun is high,
And the river sings a sleepy tune,
And the woods give no reply.
I dream of thee at eve,
Beneath the fading sun,
When even the winds begin to grieve;
And I dream till day is done.
I dream of thee at night,
When dreams, men say, are free;
Alas! thou dear, too dear delight,
When dream I NOT of thee?
I DREAM OF THEE
I dream of thee at noon,
When all the earth is gay,
Save I, who live a life forlorn,
And die thro' a long decay.
I dream of thee at noon,
When the summer's sun is high,
And the river sings a sleepy tune,
And the woods give no reply.
I dream of thee at eve,
Beneath the fading sun,
When even the winds begin to grieve;
And I dream till day is done.
I dream of thee at night,
When dreams, men say, are free;
Alas! thou dear, too dear delight,
When dream I NOT of thee?
